This was a delightful place, food and service were both excellent. They close at 8 PM during their summer hours - we weren't aware of this and arrived at eight. We were very cheerfully served anyway! Hush puppies were awesome, key lime parfait was too. All 4 of us had different entries and all were very good. Try this place!

Wow, fabulous! We ate here last night and it couldn't have been better. There was a brief wait (snowbird season...), and it was slightly weird that they had no lights in the lobby where we waited. (It's actually in the attached fish market that was closed for the evening.) Soon enough though we were seated. It's not a big place but has nice ambiance, and the owner herself is chef. We saw her running back and forth delivering everyone's meal herself, a nice touch. EVERYTHING we had was excellent! I had the scallop special: large sea scallops with a slightly sweet champagne demi-glace; I asked for some more bread at the end so I could soak up every last bit of that sauce! The scallops were large, succulent and seared to perfection (there's nothing worse than an overcooked, rubbery scallop). A side of rice (curiously studded with corn kernels) was a fine choice. I upgraded to a house salad as my second side; it wasn't especially memorable though the citrus vinaigrette was good, with only a bit of fruity twang. My mom had crab cakes, which were tasty (I had a couple bites), but the texture was a little too uniform (I like them a little chunkier) and thus less interesting than other crab cakes I've had. My father and grandmother both chose salmon, which isn't my favorite fish but the bite I had proved it to be cooked to its ideal point. My dad got it with the lemongrass soy sauce, which was too salty for me but he enjoyed it. She (and my mother) both had the tropical fruit salsa: mango, pineapple, papaya and coconut blended together. We were too full for dessert but they offered strawberry pie, rum cake, and key lime parfaits (which we saw passing our table: custard and whipped cream in a large goblet; looked tasty!) The place is small, so don't move at a turtle's pace to get there! Overall, Tortuga's was a great find for seafood!

The red base conch chowder was phenominal!! Grilled fish and grilled shrimp tacos were pretty good. Very friendly service.

Great food! Owner Maralee was very helpful for us out of towners. Sauce was on the pasta with mushrooms shrimp and scallops was very nice. The blackened lumberjack was just as good. The clam chowder and conch chowder very nice. Can't say enough good things.

Very fresh selection of seafood, probably best in the area. Good service, salads, wine and been selections. You can also purchase fresh to take home and cook or they will prepare for you.

This place is about a mile from my house so dropped in for lunch. Nice and clean, and they also sell fresh seafood. Ordered the "blackened" redfish sandwich special with slaw. A nice-sized piece of fish on a toasted roll (not a bun just pulled outta the bag). Yea for that! It was cooked fine and flavorful, but I must say it was what I'd call a "mildly seasoned" pan fry rather than truly "blackened". Pretty good nonetheless. The slaw was also good as was the service. Rounded up to 4.

My wife and I had lunch there today. I had the coconut shrimp basket and she had the grouper sandwich. Both were great, but the fries weren't the best. The waitress was quick and attentive and made suggestions for future meals. I really was impressed with the corn on the cob and the coke slaw.

Went there for dinner. Two of the orders were overcooked, the worse being the swordfish. The waitress said she would get the owner who was there but never came to the table. A big disappointment for what could have potentially been a nice local fish house. We will not go there for dinner again. HLC

We Found this place on the very day they opened and was delighted by the quality, flavor, and freshness of the food. Friendly staff. Diverse menu options. Fantastic seafood! Now one of my must go to the spots when I'm back in Punta Gorda.

Had the fish and shrimp tacos, they were soggy and falling apart, sides were not that good. Bland and oily, overpriced and other than the service, not a good experience. Can't even rate it.
